Guests of this year's wine program are Samo Simonič and Dr. Mojmir Wondra.
On Friday, July 14th Samo Simonič will take us on Wine Journey - from Jeruzalem to Southern Africa. Wines from Germany, Serbia, Italy, Southern Africa and New Zealand will be presented side by side with wines from Jeruzalem. At this entertaining comparative wine tasting we will find out where our wines stand in comparison with the competition from the other parts of the world.
Samo Simonič, born in 1967, lives in Prlekija since birth. After finishing his studies at the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana he soon became active in wine promotion and marketing, first at the Jeruzalem Ormož company and now at the Dveri-Pax winery. His work demands a lot of travelling which enables him to get acquainted with various (foremost wine) cultures on different continents.
Doc. Dr. Mojmir Wondra will give his expert opinion on wines in this year's competition program. The public wine tasting will take place on Thursday, July 13th at 17h at the City Hall Atrium in Ljutomer.
Mojmir Wondra was born in 1951 in Črnomelj. He graduated from the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana, where he also finished his Master's Degree. He has been teaching wine technology and enology for 40 years. He also lectures at the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Maribor and conducts courses for future enologists. He is also a member of the evaluation committee and long-time president of the Wine Assessment Vino Slovenija in Gornja Radgona.
