Selection of Croatian horror shorts

Friday, July 13 at 21.30h OPEN AIR CINEMA (MAIN SQUARE)

Božidar Trkulja

In this program, comprised of six Croatian animated films made in the last 12 years, more than 90 puppets will appear, set in six different worlds, atmospheres and aesthetics. Their authors have tried to make them come to life in the best possible way - to give them not only motion, but also emotion and thought. Some films rely on humour with just a dash of fear, while others rely on dread with just a dash of humour. Four films represent classic puppet animation, although from the position of a new stream within the current Croatian animation, while two are made by combining different techniques including stop-motion animation. Enjoy a little fear and a lot of atmosphere!

Božidar Trkulja works as a journalist and film critic in newspapers (Vjesnik, Forum, Lider, Zapis…) and on Croatian national television (Animatik, Posebni dodatci). He is a member of the Croatian Society of Film Critics. He is author of stop motion puppet film "In The Beginning Of Time" and co-author of the comic "The Academy of Miracles" (Modra lasta).
